Stop & Pop

The card in balloon is a favourite of many magicians. So here's a great version that packs flat and plays big. The only noise however is the sound of the audience's applause !!!

Description

The trick starts with a card being selected from an oversized deck that has been hinged together precluding any slight of hand as the performer flips each card over to show the faces one by one. A spectator is asked to shout stop at any time and the selection is made. This card is remembered.

1. Magician intoduces a large pad

A large pad of paper is introduced which has been in full view of the audience since the beginning of the trick. On the front of the pad is a drawing of a large inflated red coloured balloon. The magician makes a pretend stabbing motion at the balloon as if to try and pop it !

2. Magician starts to flip the pages

The performer now flips the pages of the pad forward one by one to reveal that the red balloon is starting to animate. The audience can see that something is starting to happen.

3. The balloon pops

As the pads pages are fliped forward the balloon is seen to very visually burst.

4. The pad says bang

As the pages continue to cascade forwards the word bang appears in the balloon in large red letters. Wow !

5. The chosen card is revealed

As the magician flips to the end of the pad the previously selected card now appears on the last page by magic leaving the audience to wonder how the magician knew that this would be the selected card. The combination of methods makes this a very clever trick.
